I am against NYC removing statues of George Washington, that is woke neoliberal diversion away from NYC's real problems

I won't allow those George Washington statues to come down, NYC 's council are woke snowflakes.. This statue removal trash has to stop, it benefits no one at all and actually is counterproductive.

George Washington was our first President and it is stupid to hold him to modern standards. NYC is nothing but a radlib hellhole shit

crisis

'Little more than an attempt by the radical left to rewrite our nation’s history,' , what a divisive thing to do in NYC , they are going to create a civil war if they keep this woke trash up

 https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12535523/New-York-migrants-statues-reparations-washington.html

I echo the blowback and criticism of this stupid take down statues idea and the repartations idea

"New York City Considering Removing Statues of George Washington"

In this instance means it was discussed at a City Hall meeting, and that they're proposing a plaque instead explaining that he wasn't you know - perfect by today's standards.

See link and text below:

https://www.beliefnet.com/columnists/watchwomanonthewall/2011/04/the-45-communist-goals-as-read-into-the-congressional-record-1963.html

Americans were warned in the 50s and 60s of subversive hijacking of our culture. It was visible and in our face in the 60s/70s at universities and colleges.

THE 45 COMMUNIST GOALS AS READ INTO THE CONGRESSIONAL RECORD, 1963

CURRENT COMMUNIST GOALS

U.S. acceptance of coexistence as the only alternative to atomic war.

U.S. willingness to capitulate in preference to engaging in atomic war.

Develop the illusion that total disarmament [by] the United States would be a demonstration of moral strength.

Permit free trade between all nations regardless of Communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.

Extension of long-term loans to Russia and Soviet satellites.

Provide American aid to all nations regardless of Communist domination.

Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N.

Set up East and West Germany as separate states in spite of Khrushchev’s promise in 1955 to settle the German question by free elections under supervision of the U.N.

Prolong the conferences to ban atomic tests because the United States has agreed to suspend tests as long as negotiations are in progress.

Allow all Soviet satellites individual representation in the U.N.

Promote the U.N. as the only hope for mankind. If its charter is rewritten, demand that it be set up as a one-world government with its own independent armed forces. (Some Communist leaders believe the world can be taken over as easily by the U.N. as by Moscow. Sometimes these two centers compete with each other as they are now doing in the Congo.)

Resist any attempt to outlaw the Communist Party.

Do away with all loyalty oaths.

Continue giving Russia access to the U.S. Patent Office.

Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States.

Use technical decisions of the courts to weaken basic American institutions by claiming their activities violate civil rights.

Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers’ associations. Put the party line in textbooks.

Gain control of all student newspapers.

Use student riots to foment public protests against programs or organizations which are under Communist attack.

Infiltrate the press. Get control of book-review assignments, editorial writing, policymaking positions.

Gain control of key positions in radio, TV, and motion pictures.

Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to “eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.”

Control art critics and directors of art museums. “Our plan is to promote ugliness, repulsive, meaningless art.”

Eliminate all laws governing obscenity by calling them “censorship” and a violation of free speech and free press.

Break down cultural standards of morality by promoting pornography and obscenity in books, magazines, motion pictures, radio, and TV.

Present homosexuality, degeneracy and promiscuity as “normal, natural, healthy.”

Infiltrate the churches and replace revealed religion with “social” religion. Discredit the Bible and emphasize the need for intellectual maturity which does not need a “religious crutch.”

Eliminate prayer or any phase of religious expression in the schools on the ground that it violates the principle of “separation of church and state.”

Discredit the American Constitution by calling it inadequate, old-fashioned, out of step with modern needs, a hindrance to cooperation between nations on a worldwide basis.

Discredit the American Founding Fathers. Present them as selfish aristocrats who had no concern for the “common man.”

Belittle all forms of American culture and discourage the teaching of American history on the ground that it was only a minor part of the “big picture.” Give more emphasis to Russian history since the Communists took over.

Support any socialist movement to give centralized control over any part of the culture–education, social agencies, welfare programs, mental health clinics, etc.

Eliminate all laws or procedures which interfere with the operation of the Communist apparatus.

Eliminate the House Committee on Un-American Activities.

Im all for removing statues if it is deemed higly inapropriate. Like Jimmy Savil in the UK. Sure he was an entertainer that many loved. But then it was uncovered what he was up to in his spare time and it is not as good idea to have statues of him around.

When it comes to historical figures, any statues can be fitted with a plaque explaining why the person was of sagnificens and also what if any bad things they have done.

People need to be educated by adding context and information not less so by removing the "bad parts" if history.

It seems like all these reparations task forces ever accomplish is getting a paycheck for the people on it.

They are bureaucratic virtue signaling bloat. I really don't understand why people keep falling for this, in any other context it would be called a scam.

The get together, propose a massive money giveaway that no feasible budget could ever support, pat themselves on the back, and then make their supporters angry at the responsible civil servants who don't implement their impossible plans.

Of course it is. Everyone knows on some level that the idea of paying actual cash reparations is fucking impossible. The people leading the discussions are just looking out for themselves, and telling a tale that their followers want to believe, though even they probably know deep down that it isn't really going to happen. This is just a form of polititainment.

Exactly. People complain about special interest groups getting payoffs from politicians but ignore stuff like this. It’s nothing more than a public funded payoff to their supporters/activists

This is one of the more ridiculous things I’ve ever seen. The man led us to become an independent nation. He then followed it up with relinquishing power when people asked him to stay in power and be the exact same thing that they fought to separate from. He is the idea and tradition behind 2 term limits. And then on top of that where does this end? Do we rename Washington DC and the state of Washington?

Oh no the father of our country.

I think we just need to learn to live with the fact that good people have done bad things and judge them by the context of their times and not ours.

For sure Washington never acted and in the back of his mind thought "I wonder what Americans on their little hand held computers in the year 2023 will think of me"

George Washington literally could have easily been king of America if he wanted. But he didn't and led us to a stable democracy

And that alone makes him exceptional, especially when you look at pretty much every other revolution (English, French, Haitian, 2nd French, Mexican, and Russian) eventually leading to a single person taking power for themselves

Mayor Adams just ordered every city agency to cut 5% to help cover the cost of the illegal immigration influx lol, but the council feels like this is a pressing issue which needs to be addressed

Apparently the city doesn’t have the money to fully find social services and transit which directly help lower income and often minority neighborhoods….. but they’re simultaneously going to look into paying reparations to specific minority groups….. am I in bizzaro world?
